It is unknown when the new RAM will be out on the market. Some speculate that it will be out in the middle of 2013 or 14. AMD and Intel still has to make their devices competible.
The new ram will run twice as fast and use less voltage than the current ddr3 which means less heat and more speed. DDR4 will also supports deep powerdown, allowing it to go into sleep mode that requires no refresh of the memory and will save 45 to 50 percent of stand-by power.
